Louisville Tourism Marketing & Communications Team Internship

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Louisville Tourism is dedicated to promoting Louisville, Kentucky, as a premier travel destination. Our team works to attract visitors, inspire tourists and locals, and connect people to experiences that showcase Louisville's rich culture, creativity, and passion. We aim to grow the region's economy through tourism while fostering a love for Greater Louisville.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Hours: Up to 24 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 am-5 pm)
  • Pay: $14 per hour
  • Parking: Free parking provided
  • Internship Dates: Fall 2026 semester with potential to extend
  • Eligibility: Junior or Senior in college or a Graduate Student, ideally 21+ and in school in the Louisville/Southern Indiana area. Please note: this is not a remote position. Availability required Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during business hours in our downtown office at Fourth & Main Streets (9:00 am-5 pm; some flexibility allotted.)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This intern supports the Louisville Tourism Marketing & Communications team with various tasks, such as (but not limited to) assisting with content creation, digital asset management, event curation, etc. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the travel and tourism industry, working on diverse projects that build professional skills and contribute to the organization's mission.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Marketing

  • Work with Digital Marketing Manager on a weekly e-newsletter
  • Handle the collection of promotional/collateral materials
  • Research and upload local events to the Louisville Tourism online event calendar
  • Assist in maintaining the annual events list

Content Creation

  • Work with Social Media Manager to curate content for Louisville Tourism’s social channels
  • Attend events to capture new photography for marketing and PR needs, as needed
  • Assist with editing and posting content
  • Researching, curating, and writing blogs
  • Take photos and edit images as necessary

Operations/Events

  • Work with Marketing & Communications Coordinator to assist with daily tasks such as deliveries, inventory, mailing, and event preparations
  • Help prepare for events/tradeshows (curating items, packing, creating shipping labels, etc.).
  • Work with the Community Relations Manager to help update and maintain database
  • Attend department meetings when available
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills & Experience:
  • Pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, hospitality, tourism, or related field
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to propose successful solutions
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet research
  • Photography skills (a plus)
  • Social Media experience
  • Interest in hospitality, tourism, and/or marketing communications (a plus)
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for occasional off-site meetings/events and/or deliveries
